A beautiful building has been born (in LA)
LA has birthed a tropical oasis of a building
in Beverly Hills.
Formally known as Gardenhouse, designed by MAD Architects is a building literally unlike any other in Los Angeles….and trust me, I’ve looked. Usually I write about really beautiful buildings that catch my eye by their urban art patterns or mural design, but this building is something else.
At the end of 2019 when I was driving to an appointment in Beverly Hills, I noticed a building that had a huge living plant ecosystem on the exterior. Right away, I made a left and soon realized the entirety of the exterior was covered in plants. As I was looking to the building with awe and wonder at the stop sign, my day dreaming soon came to an end by a horn of an Aston Martin that seemed to be in a hurry.
“The complex is made up of three types of residences, from townhouses to single-story “flats.” In total, Gardenhouse contains 18 units.
Described in a press release as a “village on the hill,” Gardenhouse is raised off the ground, wrapped in a giant green wall of succulents and native plants. The five-story structure sits along Wilshire Boulevard at Stanley, about three blocks west of the Saban Theatre.
Pitched-roof residences form a kind of wall around an open-air courtyard with gardens, tall trees, and a “reflecting pool.”
See, I told you, a building like non other…and if you got the $change$ of a cool 3.7 mill I would highly recommend buying here and inviting me and your friends over for a day at the pool.
